Monster Trucks for Sale

Why would you be interested in monster trucks for sale, you say? Well, having and driving a monster truck is something different, something not obtainable any other way in terms of thrill, fun and adventure. In fact, more and more people are discovering this ‘something’ so that interest is actually peaking, manifested in the growing number of online blogs and sites solely dedicated to discussing, buying or selling, and looking for monster truck parts, activities, tires, axles, and what-have-yous. Monster truck aficionados today comprise a distinct community online and off.

Monster trucks are, essentially, simply pickup trucks fitted with huge wheels and high suspension systems. Quaint to look at at first, they became famous when Bob George of Truck-o-Rama

promoted the first entertainment-oriented monster truck called ‘Bigfoot’, a Ford 250 4x4 owned by Bob Chandler. Bigfoot was first publicly displayed in Denver in 1979 where it proved to be a tremendous attraction. Then in 1981, Chandler crushed several junk cars by running Bigfoot over them, and monster trucks became entertainment vehicles more than adventure ones.

So the more common monster truck shows has them crushing some kind of obstruction or smaller vehicles such as a line of cars. With monster truck tires, this is rather easy and logical, but the spectacle of a huge truck climbing over cars and flattening them is still thrilling to behold. Monster truck racing competitions are also much-attended events beginning 1985 when it came into vogue. This sparked the development of fiberglass truck bodies to reduce vehicle weight to race them better and faster.

Racing competitions began with Bigfoot racing Bearfoot, King Kong, and, years later Equalizer and Grave Digger (which have nine units currently running in shows and competitions out of 26 built in total), to name some more famous ones. Today monster truck races are practically all over the country in various forms, although the freestyle ---where the trucks are free to run in the track and obstacles--- is the more popular one these days.

Originally, larger-tire trucks were used to traverse difficult off road terrains such as bogs and muddy fields ordinary all-terrain vehicles cannot negotiate. Bigger tires were added, and the pickup’s body was lifted to accommodate the larger tires, and these were called lifted trucks. Such modified pickups were able to perform better, even carry additional weight in the truck bed. Eventually, owners began friendly competitions like mud bog racing and tractor pulling, and made the tires even larger. In time, true monster trucks like Bigfoot developed.

For the young people, mini monster trucks, built on a smaller scale and purely for recreation purposes were manufactured, sometimes copied from their original huge namesakes. These are often simply built-up go-karts, or perhaps ATVs made to look like monster trucks. Some, however, are fully functional and mechanically competent copies such as the Baby Cyclops mini monster truck. Later, even radio-controlled (RC) monster truck toys showed up in toy store shelves.

Today you can buy lift kits to raise your truck a few inches to several feet, and spend from a few hundred to several thousand dollars for the aftermarket truck parts. You can also cannibalize a used truck or two for the parts you need if you have access to junk or salvage yards, or you own the junk truck. If you wish to build a truly good lifted or monster truck, you can even use a 2.5- to 5-ton Rockwell differential and brake assemblies that can withstand much abuse. Rockwell axles were originally manufactured for military use, so you are assured of almost-indestructible toughness. Alternatively, perhaps you can try to find junk Freightliner trucks for sale that you can chop for parts if you are truly keen on having a super-tough monster truck of your own.

If you want ready-built monster trucks for sale, you can find them usually after a competition or roadshow tour, when owners may want to sell what they have to build better ones. Some people may even join roadshows and races just to exhibit their monster trucks for sale to anyone interested. It can actually be a profitable business under certain conditions such as source of dirt-cheap used truck parts and a couple of truly good mechanics.

Or, you can simply choose from many monster trucks for sale online, and acquire one much more easily. Try searching for a monster truck on eBay and you may find several on auction there.

So, would you be interested in monster trucks for sale? Acquire one and you can have a wild ride truck anytime you want. It is comparable to riding a tuna tower on a bucking deepsea fishing yacht, when you feel you’re on a trip on top of the world. To prove the point, locate some monster trucks for sale, test-ride them and evaluate your experience. You will find that they can be the most enjoyable rides you could have. How about that?
