Toyota Diesel Truck

Toyota diesel truck includes all kinds of light and heavy trucks manufactured by Toyota, Japan. The first generation started with Hilux in 1968 with 1.5L engine, 2WD, 4-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. It was redesigned in 1975; it was made more luxurious and 5-speed manual transmission was made optionally available. The following year i.e. in 1976, the name Hilux was replaced with Truck in the US. Four-wheel drive versions were introduced in US in early 1980s with automatic transmission. The fifth generation models (1990s) had almost all brands of diesel and petrol engines, 2WD or 4WD variants and short or long bed options. The models were sold across the globe.

A large Toyota truck is normally installed with a diesel engine, but light pickup trucks and some

other luxury cars are also diesel-driven. Toyota diesel trucks have sturdy diesel engines with great horsepower and torque, aerodynamic design and turbocharger. Moreover they have performance exhaust systems which reduce the sound when the engine is running. Toyota diesel trucks offer more safety, comfort and space. The engines have been made fuel efficient. A heavy-duty Toyota diesel truck is usually equipped with 5-speed manual transmission which transmits engine torque to the axle.

A diesel engine is normally heavier and more efficient than gasoline engine and gives maximum horsepower compared to other engines. Heavy duty vehicles such as trucks, buses and tractors are generally diesel-driven. Advancement in technology has made the diesel engine follow the emission standards of clean air. The details of diesel engine can vary significantly depending upon the engine’s performance and size, such as difference in combustion chamber, fuel injection and others.

Tundra diesel is the diesel variant of Tundra. Originally, it was a full-size 1/2-ton Toyota diesel truck introduced by Toyota Company in 2007, but later on ¾-ton class was also introduced. This is also called the HD diesel Tundra. The heavy-duty Tundra diesel houses 8.0L Hino diesel engine and manual transmission from EATON. The latest luxury models are Regular Cab, Double Cab and CrewMax. The double cab has extended cab with 4 doors while CrewMax comes with extra large crew cab. The Regular Cab is the simplest model with basic trim level. The Double and Regular Cabs have 4.0L V6 engine with 236 hp and 266 ft-lb torque. There is also an option of 4.6L V8 engine that has 310 hp and 327 ft-lb torque; this is the standard configuration on all other models. 5.7L V8 engine with 381 hp and 401 ft-lb torque is also optionally available at Toyota Tundra Diesel. All V6 powered trucks have 5-speed automatic transmission whereas v8 engines have 6-speed automatics. Tundra trucks are available with many payload capacities due to different designs. The truck has durable and powerful frame to hold the engine and other heavy weights. An extra wheel is hinged in the bed. It can be considered one of the best diesel trucks.

Power steering provides hydraulic power to assist steering. It provides comfort to the user as it needs less force for turning especially when the vehicle is traveling at slow speeds. The sensitivity of steering force depends upon the weight of the automobile and its length. So it is more beneficial to big pickups and trucks. There are two main types of power steering: linkage and integral. Many models of Toyota diesel truck are employed with power steering.

An injection pump is a device that injects the fuel into the cylinders of the diesel or gasoline engine. It injects the fuel in a very high-pressure area, therefore, the pump creates tremendous pressure to prevent the fuel from escaping. A manual transmission or manual gearbox is a type of transmission in an automobile. It is normally operated by a clutch, lever and pedal. Most of the manual systems in vehicles allow the driver to switch to any gear any time, but some allows only switching to the next high or low gear. Old models of Toyota diesel trucks have both manual and automatic transmission. Four wheel drive or 4WD is a four-wheeled vehicle that enables all four wheels to receive power by the engine at the same time. This 4WD wheel drive system is not only installed on trucks but also in racing cars. Such drive mechanism brings greater stability to vehicles on a range of surfaces. Four wheel drive model is available on all latest models of Toyota diesel truck.

Old models of Toyota trucks can be customized with off-the-shelf available parts. With huge fleets of Toyota trucks across the globe, standardized workshops and plenty of skilled manpower, the maintenance costs are always comparable, rather lower. Due to omnipresent technology and technicians, diesel development costs are always nominal when going for replacement with equivalent or more powerful engine. Toyota diesel engine comes in various configurations and the customer has various options at the time of purchase. But later on modifications can also be made.

Toyota diesel truck could be deemed as the best diesel truck due to its versatility in capacities, designs, styles and luxuries. Reliability and efficiency are built-in features.
